What are the accepted payment methods for municipal tax bills?

The acceptable payment modes for paying municipal dues may vary across different states and cities in India but largely include:

  1. Net Banking: Most municipal bodies allow payment of property tax, water bills, etc., via net banking from leading public and private banks. Taxpayers need to register and generate bills on the portal first.
  2. Debit/Credit Card Payment: Portals are generally integrated with payment gateways to enable card payments. A convenience fee might be applicable when paying your bills with a card.
  3. UPI: With UPI gaining massive adoption, apps like BHIM, Google Pay, and PhonePe can securely facilitate municipal payments without the hassle of cards.
  4. NEFT/RTGS: Taxpayers can also transfer the due amount directly to the designated municipal account online using the IFSC code and other details.
