Is there a convenience fee for using online payment methods?

Most electricity providers do not charge any additional convenience fees for online bill payment options. You only need to pay the net electricity bill amount when using payment methods like:

  • Debit/Credit Cards: No extra charge for paying your electricity bill via debit or credit card on the provider website/app.
  • Netbanking: Online payment via netbanking through NEFT/RTGS/IMPS is free. Just the bill amount is deducted.
  • UPI: UPI apps like Shriram One, BHIM, Google Pay, and PhonePe have zero charges for electricity bill payments.
  • Mobile Wallets: Paytm, Freecharge, Mobikwik, etc., don't levy extra fees for bill pay. You get cashback occasionally.
  • Auto-Debit: Setting up auto-debit through NACH/ECS/SI for bill amount to be automatically deducted from your bank is free of cost.

However, a few providers may charge nominal convenience fees for some exclusive online payment options you prefer. This is mentioned on their websites.
