Can I set up auto-pay for my gas bills?

Paying your monthly gas bill can now be fully automated, thanks to the AutoPay facility launched by NPCI. This new functionality enables customers to set up recurring e-mandates using any UPI application for repetitive payments like gas bills.

To get started, first check if your gas provider accepts UPI AutoPay. Then download or open a UPI app like BHIM, PhonePe, Google Pay, etc., on your smartphone. Enter your account details and set the amount to be auto-debited each month. Authorise the e-mandate request received on your UPI app. This will create a standing instruction for auto-payment of your gas bill on the due date.

Once the e-mandate is successfully registered, you don’t need to do anything further. The bill amount will automatically be deducted from your linked bank account. You can edit the mandated amount or pause payments whenever required.

This convenient auto-pay facility ensures you never miss a gas bill payment or incur late fees. It eases the payment process without having to remember bill dates or log in to make manual transactions.
